The American Trench Coat
We’re all inspired by something.
We introduced the original American Trench Coat in 2013. It was a true project, proving that exceptional outerwear can still be made in America. The goal was to preserve the skill, experience, and craftsmanship behind one of menswear’s most enduring garments. Over 15 years later, our mission remains the same.
The American Trench Coat is cut from 100% cotton Ventile®, an extraordinary weatherproof cotton developed for the British military and woven entirely from natural fibers. Rather than relying on synthetics, Ventile® creates its weather resistance through a dense weave that will not degrade over time. When fabric gets wet, the cotton fibers naturally expand, blocking out the elements while remaining breathable.
Like the best garments, it improves with time. Ventile® softens with wear, developing character while maintaining the weatherproof performance that defines it. Function is built into the fabric itself, resulting in a coat that’s as comfortable to live with as it is dependable in changing weather.
Cut with a clean single-breasted front, genuine horn buttons, and an elegant A-line silhouette, it’s finished with a refined collar, notch lapels, and a detachable hood when the forecast calls for it. Raglan sleeves encourage natural movement, while a generous back vent allows the coat to drape with ease. Roomy slash pockets, adjustable cuffs, and oversized interior stow pockets complete our signature piece.
Our namesake garment was proudly produced in Boston at a modern manufacturing facility, highly regarded for its sophisticated, premium outerwear.
